Sports Day:
The sports day was a great success and I feel all enjoyed it.
Many thanks to the sports committee and a special thanks to Eunice who
organized the Grub! I hope that next year we will have the same.
Meath County Council: Upkeep
of Troytown:
Over the last 9 months or so I have had meetings with councillors also
written to the Meath County Council regarding works that required attention.
To date the street lights, trimming of trees, (More will be cut down in
October) repair to footpaths and filling of potholes!! (On going problem)
has been attended to. In October the drainage will be repaired and
made adequate to suit Troytown. Also being discussed at the council's
next meeting is construction of two ramps on the main road into Troytown
and a fence erected at the lower green area where Russell Court is situated.
Many thanks to Bernie Purtill for the lovely flower arrangement at the
estate name sign.
Boundary Wall between Troytown
and Tara Glen:
I know a lot of residents are very concerned about this matter. The
council have said no to a wall but they do suggest a 2-meter Iron fence,
painted green and on the same side as Tara Glen. (Same fence around
St Oliver's School). Tara Glen has said yes to this idea and as I
am representing Troytown I have agreed to this. Tara Glen has now written
to Kingscroft Construction, John Farrelly and Meath County Council agreeing.
A new site notice must now be displayed and once 8 weeks pass everything
should get the go a head. Kings croft want to complete the fence so they
can hand over Tara Glen to the Meath County Council. I know its taken time
for this to be sorted out but it will happen, so everyone is just going
to have patience.
Lotto-Finance:
Our lotto continues to do well, approx 80 pound per week. I cannot
stress enough how important that we keep the lotto going, remember it is
our only income and we need it badly. I need more lotto collectors,
especially for the Middle row, so please some one help out. Contact Mr
& Mrs Crosby, middle row Our finances are approx £500 that’s
allowing for the jackpot and paying for our sports day/Goal posts.
Litter Dumping:
Last year we had a major dumping and litter problem, glad to see that
90% of the dumping has ceased, there are still residents out there who
still continue to dump. For those of you who don't know there is
a Recycling Center located in Mullaghboy industrial estate just out side
Navan on the Athboy road, opposite turn towards Tara mines. They
take anything; you got it they take it. In addition, the litter is another
matter. I have gone around Troytown with the children on many Saturdays
picking up paper upon paper. The main Green area and the entrance
to Troytown are the problem areas. Teenagers loitering at the green
they just throw their litter everywhere; It's not just our residents but
others also. All I ask is encourage every body to take care when
it comes to litter. "Keep Troytown Clean". There will be skips Late
September for the estate. Only 3 skips will be hired as the price has increased
considerably.
Troytown Heights Estate Mass:
The mass will be held on the small green area, 100yds pass the entrance
to Troytown on left hand side. The mass will commence at 8 O' Clock
on 20th July.
Troytown Tools:
The residents Lawnmower is located at No 90 and the Strimmer is at
No 85 Troytown. The tools are available to all who play the estate
Lottery every week, all you have to do is supply your own fuel. Remember
the strimmer requires a small mix of oil every time you fill with fuel.
Please clean the tools after use and return to the respective houses that
care for them.
Troytown Web Site:
We have set up our own Troytown Web Site; Why not check us out at www.e-navan.com/troytown
Well You got this far...
Many thanks to Aubrey Martin.
Conclusion:
Finally I must step down as Chairman of Troytown Heights, the good
news is I shall return in Jan 2001, this is due to my own work commitments.
I have taken care of things to the best of my ability whilst I am away.
The Green areas will be cut, our lotto collections will continue and I
have done everything to date about the up keep of the estate with Meath
County Council. The construction of the Iron Fence between Troytown
and Tara Glen, Tara Glen's chairman has assured me that they will do what
ever is needed to ensure the fence is constructed. So until I return
take care and look after "YOUR TROYTOWN" during my absence.
Just one more item, many thanks for the kind presentation you made
to my wife and myself. I would like to take this opportunity to wish you
all the very best and take care.
Signed: David Murphy
Chairman
